The theater is located just off Tremont Street in Boston’s Downtown district, making it easily accessible by public transportation, walking, rideshare services, and driving. 

Public transport

Boston’s MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) offers several convenient public transport options:

  • Subway (“The T”) – The Green Line (Park Street Station) is the closest stop, just a 2-minute walk.

  • The Red Line (Park Street Station) – Stops at Park Street, providing easy access from Cambridge, Somerville, and other areas.

  • The Orange Line (Downtown Crossing Station) – About a 5-minute walk from.

Buses

If you plan to take the bus to the Orpheum Theater, several MBTA bus routes pass through Downtown Crossing and Tremont Street, including Routes 43 and 92, which stop near the venue.

Commuter rail

If you’re traveling from the suburbs or the greater Boston, the MBTA Commuter Rail stops at South Station, about a 15-minute walk from the Orpheum.

You can transfer to the Red Line at South Station for a quicker route and take it one stop to Park Street.

By car

Want to drive to the theater? As it’s within walking distance of lively Tremont Street, there is no specific theater parking. However, there are plenty of local parking garages you can use. You should leave enough time to park before the show, as the area can get busy during performances.

  • Boston Common Garage (0.3 miles, about a 6-minute walk) is located at 0 Charles Street, which is a popular choice for theatergoers.

  • Lafayette Garage (0.4 miles, about an 8-minute walk) at 1 Avenue de Lafayette, close to Downtown Crossing.

  • Pi Alley Parking Garage (0.2 miles, about a 5-minute walk) is located at 275 Washington Street, a convenient option with frequent availability.

  • Tremont Street Garage (0.3 miles, about a 7-minute walk) at Tremont Street is another nearby option.

Rideshare and walking

If you’re staying in Downtown Boston, the Orpheum is easily reachable on foot from many central hotels and attractions. However, due to its central location, Uber/Lyft drop-offs can be arranged at Tremont Street near Hamilton Place for easy access.
