The all-star line-up backing Warren Haynes comprises Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott, veteran Warren Haynes Band and two-time Grammy Award-winning drummer Terence Higgins, the venerable Greg Osby on saxophone, and long-time friend and famed keyboardist John Medeski from the popular trio, Medeski, Martin & Wood.
Warren Haynes, inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Johnny Winter, bounced into the music scene in 1980 with David Allan Coe’s touring and recording band. In 1989, he joined The Allman Brothers Band, for which he played on four studio albums, including the gold-certified “Where It All Begins”. Warren Haynes dropped his first solo album, “Tales of Ordinary Madness” in 1993, after which he formed Gov’t Mule, knocking it out of the ballpark with their live performances. Their album, “Man in Motion”, debuted on the Billboard Top 20 with subsequent live recordings, and finally, “Million Voices Whisper” is set to drop this fall.
The Million Voices Whisper Tour comes hot on the heels of Warren Haynes’ performance in Slash’s S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival and concluding the Now Is the Time Tour, like the true road and musical warriors the Warren Haynes Band members are. Warren Haynes stated that they are “going to play as much material as we can that will span all of my solo records – some Allman Brothers songs, some Gov’t Mule songs, covers of choice.” It is undeniable: Boston is in for one hell of a treat!
