In the 80s, the music scene was transforming in the UK. Punk rock had just dominated popular culture for the latter half of the 1970s, the subculture’s heavy energy was felt throughout all music. Eventually, though, listeners needed something new. Something fresh. Enter UK post-punk; a term given to all of the weird and wild music of the 80s that punk inspired. Among the bands changing the game with their new alternative sound were two bands: The Psychedelic Furs and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Fast forward to today and they’re still rocking on and staying weird. Care to join them? Tickets are on sale now, so make haste.

The Psychedelic Furs dominated the 80s post punk scene ever since they released their self-titled debut album in 1980. They went on to release five more albums in that decade alone, but they were far from done making music then. After continuing to tour and release music for their cult following across the globe, they decided a hiatus would be good for them. It only took eight years for them to get back to touring, but it took a lot longer for them to get back in the studio. They finally got around to it in 2020 and released Made of Rain. Now, you can see them live and hear the classic hits from the 80s along with their newest material. Travel back in time through music - get tickets for their live show at the Orpheum Theatre today.

The Jesus and Mary Chain are a peculiar bunch of musicians. Making music since 1984, the band has gone through dozens of lineup changes, with the two core songwriting members, brothers Jim and William Reid being the only consistency. Releasing music for well over a decade, they went on a hiatus in 1999 and did not reunite until eight years later. Since then, they have released two albums, including Glasgow Eyes, which was released earlier this year. To hear songs both new and old, head to Boston this October and see them live alongside The Psychedelic Furs.

The Psychedelic Furs and The Jesus and Mary Chain coming together for this world tour is something of a dream for fans of their post-punk alternative rock. Both artists have spent the greater half of this millennium on hiatus, and have only begun to release music again in recent years. The Psychedelic Furs have Made of Rain, their first album in nearly thirty years, and The Jesus and Mary Chain have their newer album, Glasgow Eyes. Now’s your chance to hear them live, performing songs new and old. Experience a night full of iconic 80s hits and newer, fresher sounds that will make your nostalgia sing.
