They went on to release five more albums in that decade alone, but they were far from done making music then. After continuing to tour and release music for their cult following across the globe, they decided a hiatus would be good for them. It only took eight years for them to get back to touring, but it took a lot longer for them to get back in the studio. They finally got around to it in 2020 and released Made of Rain. The Jesus and Mary Chain are a peculiar bunch of musicians. Making music since 1984, the band has gone through dozens of lineup changes, with the two core songwriting members, brothers Jim and William Reid being the only consistency.
