Enter Apocalyptica.

They’re one of metal’s greatest and most unlikely successes. They are classically-minded heavy metal musicians and heavy metal-minded classical musicians. Their musicianship is second-to-none. They have flair and passion unlike any other. They are unique in their approach, incredibly skilled in their instruments, and hard-core Metallica fans. They are a game changer, a force to be reckoned with, and musical prowess personified. They are coming full circle; they are hitting the road with a massive tour in support of their latest album, “Plays Metallica Vol. 2", supported by special guest Nita Strauss; and they are coming to the Orpheum Theatre Boston on 8 February 2025!

Tickets are selling from only $54 and are guaranteed to sell out, so don’t wait; snoop up those front-row seats to the most unbelievable, breath-taking, goose bump-inducing, horn-raising, mind-blowing concert you’ve ever seen!

When classical cello quartet Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Max Lilja, and Antero Manninen, all from the world-renowned Helsinki-based Sibelius Academy, released their debut album “Plays Metallica By Four Cellos” in 1996, it was evident that something extraordinary was coming – the cello became a rock instrument, classical meets heavy metal. The album contained only eight covers of Metallica hits, such as “Enter Sandman", “Master of Puppets", “The Unforgiven", “Sad But True", and “Creeping Death", but it was a game changer. Since then, Apocalyptica’s journey has been one for the books. They’ve expanded their inspiration to other iconic metal bands, such as Faith No More, Sepultura, and Pantera, and have collaborated with many legendary musicians, such as drummer Dave Lombardo of Slayer, vocalist Ville Valo of HIM, industrial-metal vocalist Till Lindemann of Rammstein, and Corey Taylor of Slipknot.

Now, almost 30 years later, Apocalyptica has come full circle with the release of their tenth studio album “Plays Metallica Vol. 2" this past June, as a follow-up to the legendary album that kicked everything into gear. The album contains some new Metallica covers, such as “The Unforgiven II” and “The Four Horsemen”, powerful collaborations with Metallica members, such as “One”, with James Hetfield reciting the lyrics and featuring bassist Robert Trujillo, as well as some original Cliff Burton tracks, such as “The Call of Ktulu”, featuring the original bass master track recorded by Cliff Burton in 1984.

The current touring line-up of Apocalyptica comprises Eicca Toppinen as rhythm cellist, Paavo Lötjönen as rhythm and bass cellist, Perttu Kivilaakso as lead cellist, as well as Franky Perez as vocalist and drummer Mikko Kaakkuriniemi.

Apocalyptica will be supported by guitar virtuoso Nita Strauss on their epic tour. She regularly tours with musicians like Alice Cooper, has a successful solo career, and is the first female rock solo artist in 32 years to hit number one on Billboard’s mainstream rock chart.

The Orpheum Theatre is one of the oldest theatres in its area – a place where history meets contemporary. The venue can host up to 2,700 “classical metal” fans in a setup that gives audiences the opportunity to experience Apocalyptica, which otherwise would sell out arenas, in an intimate show - a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that simply cannot be missed!
